It was a very easy process. All the steps were outlined on the site. I was kept informed of the status of order, and they did a very good job. I will be recommending to others.

John was great to work with. He replied to my messages promptly and was clear and concise in answering any questions I had. The setup process was very - just follow the instructions online. The use of a google form was a great idea and simplified things. Overall, the process was easy and professional. I'd recommend to all

John was very helpful and accommodating during the whole process. I got a much better plan with the same number. All the leg work was done to help me switch networks, all I had to do was make an account and sign up for the cheapest plan and the rest was set up within a few days. Even got some bill credits for switching, thank you!

Welcome to vancouver. You are?Visiting one of the greatest cities in the world: eye-popping scenery, efficient services, moderate climate, relaxed and diverse population.

The united nations survey on livability rates vancouver in the top handful of cities on earth. And this year we’re hosting the winter olympics! What a great opportunity to enjoy vancouver’s attractions — including all the olympic legacies, like new stadiums, highways and tourist sights.

But one legacy that?Isn’t so enjoyable is the thousands of homeless people on the streets of vancouver. You n’t help seeing them as you walk around downtown, and in many other neighbourhoods around the city.

This is shameful situation; visitors in 2010 are being treated to a city with?Almost as many?Homeless people? As athletes competing in the games!

Grinding poverty and growing homelessness are happening despite some bold promises to create a positive olympic legacy — promises such as building more social housing, reducing homelessness, and not displacing poor people to make way for olympics-driven development.

We organized new games that reflect the unique lol flavour of the 2010 host city — the poverty olympics. The first annual games took place on sunday february 3, 2008, in the downtown eastside (vancouver’s poorest neighbourhood).? Read about the 3rd annual games that took place on february 7, 2010 on our blog.

We are so proud of these games that we asked the international olympic committee to make these games part of the official 2010 program.? The fact that they didn’t did not deter the 600 poverty olympics fans from attending! We hope that shining the international spotlight on the dark side of our prosperous city and province might finally convince our governments to take action.

We hope, dear visitor, that you’ll take a few minutes to look around… learn more about the poverty amid plenty… help us make change by taking some simple actions… and don’t forget to invite your friends to visit our fair city!

Sincerely,
poverty olympics organizing committee

POVERTY AT A GLANCE
? Homelessness: doubled in greater vancouver between 2002 and 2005 alone — there are now more than 2,000 people living on the streets or in shelters. Hundreds search through the garbage for food and things to sell every day.

? Welfare: it’s supposed to provide a minimum amount of money for basic necessities when people go through a hard time. But our provincial government made it even harder to get, and the rates are less than half the poverty line (not enough to rent a place to live and eat nutritious food).

? Disease: vancouver’s poorest neighbourhood, the downtown eastside, has an HIV rate of 30% — the same as botswana’s. Other diseases like hepatitis C are rampant.

? A gold medal for highest poverty rate: british columbia (our province) is a gold medalist when it comes to poverty — we’ve had the highest child poverty rate in all of nada six years in a row.

? Solutions: it’s not too late to make a difference before 2010. Our governments need to invest more in things like a decent welfare program and social housing… for a fraction of what it costs to deal with disease, malnutrition, addiction, and disorder.

See world class poverty section for more information and sources.

When the world comes to vancouver in 2010, what will people see?

Welcome to panorama: the journal of intelligent travel’s WAR & PEACE issue. This collection, months in the making, deeply explores the themes of war and peace, with a special emphasis on travel storytelling that combines current events throughout the world with reflections on the past. The word war comes from the late old english wurre, meaning a large-scale military conflict, the french guerre meaning dispute, and the german verwirren, meaning to bring into confusion. The word peace was first used in the 12 th century to define the right of freedom from civil disorder, and it comes from the french pais, meaning reconciliation, silence, permission, and the latin pacem/pax meaning freedom from war or conflict. These works explore all kinds of war, from military battles to drug wars to enforced participation in violence—and many layers of peace-seeking, from a culture’s recovery after devastation, to making peace with oneself as one observes a world seemingly on fire.

Each issue of panorama begins with a small collection about a single destination, and this time we have chosen voices from the philippines, a place we don’t read much travel writing from. We recommend beginning with sarge lacuesta’s piece, the unnamed and the unspeakable, a glimpse of filipino identity; then asking questions of safety in och gonzalez’s bleeding heart; joining joel X. Toledo, as he voyages to elsewhere in his poem, alpha; and finally, a deep dive into a gorgeous excerpt of cinelle barnes’ book, monsoon mansion.

WAR & PEACE is full of emerging writers paired with all-star authors and image makers. We have chosen two in depth interviews: one with paul kenyon, a celebrated BBC journalist who has traveled across the african continent; and a second, with yan wang preston, a british-chinese photographer who carefully has documented the yangtze river. Neighboring these in-depth conversations are two photo essays: brave hearts, by amira al-sharif and the war is still alive by fatemeh behboudi, each challenging our perception of two war-torn countries, yemen and iran; the travel memoirs of two graduates of voices of our nations travel writing program for writers of color, sriram shamasunder and angela lang; and a hybridized blend of imagination and reality in james michael dorsey’s an imposition of greatness, traveling to meet a navajo code talker. Intermingled with these are more layers, from a word-map of sarajevo—to a long walk across switzerland; from a poem on the complex lyricism of zanzibar—to an essay wondering at the peace of a californian small town and the daily, far away from the war zones of the world—or maybe not.

We invite you to savor this issue, and to travel the world with us from more than forty points of view, in WAR & PEACE: one world, not one narrative.

At least for now, this is my final post at virtually blind.? I will continue writing on issues related to virtual law in mainstream and industry publications, and plan to stay very active in this field.

I cannot overstate my appreciation for virtually blind’s readers, menters, and contributing writers.? Your regular visits over the last two years kept me posting, and your witty, insightful ments added immeasurably to the site.? Quicklinks: taxes, blogs, patents, lawsuits and more

Virtually blind periodically runs “quicklinks” — items that are not long enough for a full story, but are worth a click. Here’s the current batch.

The chartered institute of taxation will be conducting a seminar on virtual world tax issues at second life’s depo business park on tuesday, the 2nd of december at 3:30pm GMT / 07:35am PST.? Here’s a SLURL.? It’s a bit early for U.S. Readers, but should be well worth attending.

I just ran across a fascinating discussion of second life’s “patent peace” policy from a 2006 listserv post.? The post was written by linden lab’s gene yoon, and it sheds a lot of light on the thinking behind the rather non-standard patent clause in second life’s terms of service.

Game casino hay nhất, game casino hay nhất.
Interesting twist in the SLART trademark lawsuit (via massively).? It turns out that the avatar ‘victor vezina,’ who richard minsky named as a defendant (along with linden lab) is the avatar of technology writer victor keegan, who writes for guardian.Co.Uk.? Keegan says he “was a pawn caught in the crossfire between linden [. ] and minsky.”

Last year VB covered a video by second life’s ‘bernard drax’ of a virtual guantanamo bay detention camp.? The video of the installation is up for an “every human has rights” media award. Congratulations!

There’s a solid breakdown of the blizzard v. MDY case (.Pdf) from the north carolina journal of law & technology.? The interesting thing about this article is that it sets out a potential argument for appeal based on what the journal sees as the trial court’s somewhat vague restatement of a key test.? Definitely worth a click if you’ve been following the case.

This one’s not directly related to virtual law, but I wanted to highlight geri kahn’s new california immigration lawyer blog, because geri is current VP of finance of the SL bar association, and active in virtual worlds.

Also in SL bar association officer blog news, stephen wu, the SLBA’s president-elect, recently posted on the possible impact of an obama administration on virtual worlds.? Interesting analysis.

Just came across a list of the top-50 internet and digital law blogs that includes VB.? Lots of good sites on here, including a few I hadn’t heard of.

One more blog note: sean kane, one of my co-chairs of the virtual worlds and multiuser online games mittee of the ABA’s section of science & technology law, is periodically posting to a blog at his new site, virtual judgment.

Game casino hay nhất, game casino hay nhất.
Finally, in case stated-ine home loans seemed insufficiently high-risk for your investment profile, some of the usual suspects in the always-entertaining second life financial markets are selling securities in second life in order “to raise the funds [. ] potentially to sue linden lab” for incresing the price of some types of virtual land last month; proceeds from the lawsuit supposedly go to investors.

Second life miss universe pageant trumped by real life trademark holder, linden lab assists

Game casino hay nhất, game casino hay nhất.
I recently ran across a story about a dustup over alleged misuse of the “miss universe” trademark in second life (via twisted and tawdry).? Cutting through the drama (and there’s plenty, if your drama levels are low) the story appears to be that “the trump organization” — as in donald — is enforcing its “miss universe” trademark in second life, and second life’s provider, linden lab, is assisting with enforcement.

While mainstream organizations have taken steps to enforce trademarks in second life before, in this case, the recipient of the enforcement action apparently made the note received from linden lab public.? Here’s the purported text of that notice:

Subject: re: notification of trademark infringement received by linden lab

We’re writing to let you know about changes made to your profile in second life.? Miss universe L.P, LLLP — the owner of the miss universe trademark — has plained about use of the miss universe trademark in the second life environment.

Linden lab respects the rights of both second life residents and trademark owners.? Accordingly, linden lab has removed uses of “miss universe” and “miss SL universe” from your second life profile.? Please do not continue to use “miss universe” or “miss SL universe” in the second life environment.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Assuming this is all accurate, it sheds some light the procedures and steps a trademark holder might wish to request that linden lab take in similar situations.? Notably, the munication only refers to alteration to profile text, and not removal of in-world items.? Verbiage in profiles is the low-hanging fruit of trademark enforcement in virtual worlds, of course, so I wonder if the miss universe organization targeted only the profile text, or if linden lab limited their enforcement to that area.? In any case, it’s interesting to see an example of what linden lab will currently do when contacted by mainstream brands (or their attorneys) claiming trademark infringement.
